Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with team of experts/team member for foundation design works for 400 kV transmission line towers, including suspension, tension, angle, and special towers.
- Perform structural design and analysis of tower foundations (pad & chimney, pile, raft, and special foundations as required) based on soil conditions and loading criteria in coordination with the team of experts.
- Review soil investigation reports and interpret geotechnical parameters for safe and economical foundation design.
- Coordinate with team of experts to review and provide technical feedback to transmission line structural designers to ensure optimized/cost effective design
- Verify loading inputs including uplift, compression, transverse, longitudinal, wind, broken wire, and seismic load combinations.
- Coordinate with geotechnical, survey, structural, and construction teams to optimize tower spotting and foundation solutions.
- Review and check design drawings, calculation sheets, BOQs, and technical specifications.
- Provide technical support during construction, including resolution of site-related foundation issues.
- Participate in design review meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Ensure compliance of all designs with applicable standards such as IEC, IS, ASCE, IEEE, or project-specific guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s Degree in Civil / Structural / Geotechnical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience preferably in 220 kV or 400 kV transmission line projects, or
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in 220 kV or 400 kV transmission line projects.
- Understanding of foundation design for high-voltage transmission line towers.
- Understanding of transmission tower loading systems and soil–structure interaction principles.
- Knowledge of PLS-CADD for line profiling, spotting, sag-tension analysis, and loading extraction
- Knowledge of PLS-Tower for tower modeling, structural analysis, and load case verification.
- Knowledge of applicable transmission line design standards (IEC, IS 4091, IS 802, ASCE, etc.).
- Practical understanding of construction practices for transmission line foundations.
